Crimson Advocate Targets Falmouth Stakes Success

Crimson Advocate Racehorse

Royal Ascot Winner Seeks Group 1 Breakthrough

Crimson Advocate heads to Friday’s Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket operating on a “completely new level” according to Wathnan Racing’s connections. The four-year-old filly, trained by John and Thady Gosden, seeks to provide the mega-rich ownership group with more Group 1 success following her impressive Royal Ascot victory.

This daughter of Kingman has been in sparkling form this season, chasing a hat-trick after following up her Listed Goodwood win with a commanding length and three-quarters defeat of Cinderella’s Dream in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes. Her Royal Ascot performance particularly impressed James McDonald, who rode her to victory.

Racing adviser Richard Brown has been delighted with her progress, noting her “very impressive turn of foot” at Royal Ascot. The high-class Australian jockey’s assessment that she would be “up to competing at the top level” adds weight to her Falmouth Stakes credentials.

Wathnan’s Expanding Summer Campaign

James Doyle, Wathnan Racing’s retained rider, takes the reins on Crimson Advocate as she faces the straight track test on Newmarket’s July course. While Brown has some reservations about the track layout, he remains confident in the filly’s ability to handle the unique challenge.

The Falmouth Stakes represents a significant step up in class, with Cinderella’s Dream installed as the 5-2 favourite despite her Royal Ascot defeat. At 7-2, Crimson Advocate offers excellent value for a filly showing such progressive improvement.

Wathnan Racing’s ambitious summer campaign also includes Shine On Me in Friday’s Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. The Archie Watson-trained daughter of Havana Grey, a 12-1 chance, finished sixth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot but has since received a form boost through Staya’s Listed success.

This Qatar-backed operation continues to make waves in British racing, with their blue and gold silks becoming increasingly familiar in the winner’s enclosure at the sport’s biggest meetings.
